Who We Are and What We Do
How do I get to
see a Speech-Language Pathologist?
You can refer yourself
or your child or family member to see a Speech-Language
Pathologist.
A nurse, physician, preschool worker, etc.
can recommend that you and/or your child see a Speech-Language
Pathologist. Your approval as a parent is needed before
an assessment can be completed with your child.
Phone and speak to the Speech-Language Pathologist
if you would like to refer yourself or a family member
for an assessment. Please refer to our "Find
Us" section for contact information in your area.
You will be mailed a case history form. It is important
that you fill out and return the case history as soon
as possible. An appointment cannot be booked until the
case history form is returned. Phone if you have problems
filling it out.
For pre-school children, there is approximately
a 6-month wait for a screening of speech-language skills.
At that time, suggestions will be provided. Then there
is another approximate 6-month wait for a full assessment,
at which time, home programming, individual treatment,
group treatment, re-evaluation after a certain time period,
or a discharge will be recommended.
